Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I hope all of you have an amazing Thanksgiving tomorrow, filled with family, friends and happy, full bellies!

From me to you; a few tips…..don’t forget to “bunny” up so you don’t have to wash dishes, make sure you grab some “Thanksgiving Turkey” pants, don’t get your head stuck in a door by being late, any English trifles you encounter may or may not have beef sauteed with peas and onions (beware), and make sure to tell your friends and family that you love them. πŸ™‚

NOVEMBER WARM FUZZIES

Hi friends!Β  It’s about that time of year-when I hunker down and go into my “why do I still live in the Midwest?” state of mind.Β  The weather is completely unpredictable from day to day and everything is turning brown, or white if there happens to be a random snowfall.Β  Although I enjoy decorating everything in white, I’m not a fan of it being outside…mmmmmk?Β  πŸ™‚

However, with that said, November always gives me the warm fuzzies, in that, after Thanksgiving, I’m full on Christmas mode, which sort of takes me back to being a kid, as it does for most people.Β  In honor of all the warm fuzzies, here are my absolute favorite things about late November.

***The start of Christmas movie season!Β  I don’t break them all out…but I do start the day after Thanksgiving with Miracle on 34th Street (the new one with Mara Wilson) and then usually watch Serendipity and The Holiday before month end.Β  Oh, and also, every year I find myself buying another favorite movie, since I’m getting too impatient in my old age (ha) to wait for them to come on TV.Β  Haha!

Miracle on 34th street

The Holiday movie

***Thanksgiving leftovers.Β  I mean….right??Β  I’m pretty sure Brock and I eat turkey sandwiches, turkey salad and turkey for breakfast for a week after Thanksgiving.Β  Yes, turkey for breakfast…put it in a pan, flip it a few times and have it with eggs and toast.Β  And, since our turkey isn’t crazy marinated or fried, I feel like it’s the only healthy thing to come out of Thanksgiving.Β  Speaking of healthy choices–I also love eating a slice of pumpkin or apple pie, for pretty much everyday after Thanksgiving, for a good week.Β  My mom eats pumpkin pie for breakfast after Thanksgiving.Β  I mean, I’m not there….yet.Β  But, I seem to be headed down that path. Don’t know what to do with all the leftovers?Β  Well, you could start here with this amazing panini RECIPE

***Decorating for Christmas.Β  I personally am old school and believe every holiday needs it’s own time.Β  I also am crazy busy with work and sports and life, so no shame to those who jump the gun and decorate early.Β  Truth be told, if we didn’t host Thanksgiving, I would most likely have the trees up the week of Thanksgiving, just so I could enjoy them the day after Thanksgiving and not be rushing around like a crazy person on my day off.Β  I typically have Brock get everything down the day after and put the trees up and start decorating them with the kids, and spend the next week or so getting everything else out and up.

***Christmas mugs for life!Β  You know what I do FIRST THING after I get my kitchen cleaned up after our guests leave?Β  Get out my Christmas mug collection!Β  I have, probably like most, had a few Christmas mugs stashed in my cabinet for years.Β  However, in the past 5 years or so, I decided that I wanted to start picking more up, because these mugs bring me so much silly joy for an entire month!Β  What used to be 3 random Christmas mugs from the early 2000’s has now turned into about 20 mugs!!Β  I’m not even sorry!Β  It’s probably the most inexpensive, joy filled tradition I have for myself in November/December.Β  My 2 newest additions can be found HERE & HERE!

These things are all simple, yet bring me so much joy in the start of a season for giving and sharing.

I hope you can find time to look for the things that bring you the most smiles as we head into the Christmas season.

Cheers!

When Your Dog Loves Accessories as Much as You Do

Hi friends!

Today, Carolina and I want to tell you about our new friends at The Buddy Bandana.

The Buddy Bandana has the cutest bandana’s for your fur baby, along with matching human scrunchies and headbands.  You know scrunchies are a thing again, right?  I mean, every girl of the 90’s has a scrunchie obsession, even if they don’t admit it.  Trust me.  The peeps at The Buddy Bandana KNOW how much we humans love to do weird things for our fur children, like wear matching accessories, which brought their company to life this year!

Besides the really cute prints they have available online at thebuddybandana.com, they are now one of my personal favorite brands to support, because they have a really strong mission behind their brand, which is to spread awareness and raise money for rescue organizations across the country.  Every purchase helps to feed and support dogs in no kill rescue shelters.  That’s a cause I can support 110%.  Their website is also equipped to take donations, if you cannot make a purchase.

Please go take a look at their site, thebuddybandana.com and pick out a matching set for yourself and your precious fur baby, then pat yourself on the back for helping rescue a sweet dog in need. Use my code ‘woof’ for an additional 40% off!

*Carolina and I are wearing the Pinknic print (her bandana is a size L) and I can’t tell ya how much I love the watermelon print as well!

Friday Five!

Today’s Friday Five is going to be all about my favorite makeup!

  1. Β Radiant Defense by Rodan & Fields (I’m in shade “sand”).Β  Get glowing, and quickly with this skin perfecter.Β  Yes, that’s what it’s technically called.Β  It’s a dermacosmetic, which means it smooths and perfects the skin, helps with fine lines and wrinkles and gives it a healthy glow that lasts all day.
  2. MAC eyeliners.Β  I’ve used MAC on my eyes since I was 18 years old.Β  Their eyeliners are like butter.Β  I tend to use the Tecknakohl liners the most.Β  Softer than the regular kohl pencil, but still long lasting.Β  My favorite color is “Photogravure”, which is a black/dark brown combo.
  3. Tarte eye palettes.Β  As I mentioned before, I was a MAC devotee for all things eyes.Β  Unnnnntil I fell madly in love with Tarte eye shadows.Β  They glide on so smooth and last for hours and hours.Β  I still use MAC eye shadows (never quit a legend..duh), but my Tarte palettes go with me everywhere as well.Β  My favorite palettes are the Pro to Go palette, and the #RemixNatural Color Collection palette.
  4. Tarte Shape Tape.Β  If you don’t use, or haven’t heard of this, you are from another planet.Β  So I feel like I don’t even have to explain it, but let’s just say if you ever need a concealer, this should be your ONLY go-to.Β  I’ve used like 50 million brands over the years and this one can’t be beat!Β  I wear shade “light-medium”.
  5. And finally, my last favorite, Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara in “blackest black”.Β  I was a Benefit and Too Faced mascara devotee, through and through, until I found this a few months ago.Β  This has perfect coverage, doesn’t clump, it curls and lengthens and is under 9.00.Β  #winning.

Friday Five!

Happy Friday, loves!!

Today I’m sharing my five favorite apps I can’t be without!

1. Instagram

I mean…did it happen if you didn’t document it on the ‘gram? I’ve always been more of an IG girl than FB. Sorry FB, but all the forwarded jokes and messages are just clutter to me. I use FB to connect and stay in touch with friends and family, of course, but I prefer the look and ease of Instagram. Plus, pictures. Lots of pictures.

2. Target Cartwheel

Do you guys have this downloaded? I’m assuming all of my readers are Target shoppers, since we are friends, right? I’ve had this app since it first became available. Now they also have Target Circle, which is connected to your Target account just like Cartwheel! All I know is when I check out via store or online checkout, I ALWAYS have a credit to apply to my total, along with my Cartwheel offers. Target just keeps getting better!

3. MyFitnessPal

I’m a tad obsessed with numbers. I mean, just a tad. By a tad, I mean a lot! I wear a FitBit 24-7. (Santa, please bring me an Apple Watch for Christmas so I can jump into the 21st century with the rest of the world, mmmmk). My FitBit is connected to MyFitnessPal, so all my workouts and steps transfer over from FitBit to MFP so I can see how many calories I can consume without turning into a double wide. I log all my calories. I know some people feel negatively about logging calories but it helps me see what I’m working with. MFP keeps me enlightened on what my macros are all day long so I know when to add more protein or cut back on fats. It’s very helpful!

4. Calm

How many of you struggle with just finding 5 minutes in the day to take a freaking breath? Last summer I downloaded this app to help with my anxiety. Little did I know that I would be unlocking this GINORMOUS portable resource of so much goodness! I actually love it so much that I pay the 60.00 per year for the full version. Don’t worry though, the free version has access to a ton of meditations, breathing exercises, music and even sleep stories. My anxiety was so major that I wanted the in depth meditation series’s. Now that my anxiety is semi under control, I use this app on road trips when get anxious or if I ever feel a feeling of panic start to come on. It’s pretty amazing!

5. Chick Fil-A One App/Starbucks

Like how I combined these two? I cheated since I technically have 6 apps here, but these are the two restaurant apps that I feel offer the best rewards and give back the most to their customers! Also, these are really the only places I go if I’m eating out haha. My favorite days are when I can get a free coffee and free medium fruit salad at Starbucks and Chick Fil-A, respectively. 😊. These apps are definitely worth the download!! You may actually be losing money if you don’t have them.

Alright guys! That’s all I have for today!!! What are your favorite apps and should I download them??

Have a great weekend!!!!
